A Death in the Family

The last sentence in my recently published book reads as follows, “Uncle Bob and Aunt Sherry still live at Caldwell Corner.” Sadly but inevitably, Aunt Sherry died last Thursday, bringing together three generations of Caldwells for her memorial service on Lookout Mountain in Tennessee. These photographs were taken at the “Big House,” the home of my cousin Hacker and his wife Kitty.

Your mother had a remarkable ability to see the irony and humor in life!

Emily, Beautiful! You captured so many great moments with sensitivity and humor. My only regret is that you missed Bets in her antics to get the boys’ attention!
Wonderful celebration of life and family. Thanks Hacker and Kitty for being the ultimate hosts.

Hi Lou, I have been meaning to send you a note about my book. It is here, and I hope the family names in the back are correct! Thank you so much for all your help. My 60th birthday is Aug. 5 and we will all be at the beach! You might want to make another trip to Ponte Vedra!

Em, amazing. you take great photos (but you already knew that!). i love the dichotomy between men’s group photos and the women’s. i could look at family gathering photos for days as i inevitably start to guess everyone’s profession and standing in the family. cheers!

I enjoyed these pictures again-3 years later! Hard to believe that 2 of the men are gone now, too….so glad Emily has captured so many of these family events!
