Year after year, the cycle continues on an Iowa farm. Crops are planted in the spring. They grow, more or less, dependent on the weather, and in the fall they are harvested. The simplicity and predictability of these seasonal cycles, in spite of the effects of modern farming technologies, have not changed since primal man turned from hunting as a means of survival to planting seeds.
